Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 Release Date Announced

Nintendo announced the release date for Wave 5 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC. The eight new courses and three new characters will all be arriving on July 12, 2023. Nintendo also revealed the classic Mario Kart courses making a return as part of this wave.

Previously announced at the June 2023 Nintendo Direct, Wave 5 will contain three new DLC characters. These characters are Petey Piranha, Kamek, and Wiggler. They’ve each been previously playable in Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Kart Tour and Mario Kart 7 respectively.

The Nintendo Direct also confirmed a new stage, Squeaky Clean Sprint, set in and around a bathtub. The classic Mario Kart tracks that Nintendo have confirmed will be joining Squeaky Clean Sprint will be:

  • Athens Dash – Mario Kart Tour
  • Daisy Cruiser – Mario Kart: Double Dash
  • Koopa Cape – Mario Kart Wii
  • Los Angeles Laps – Mario Kart Tour
  • Moonview Highway – Mario Kart Wii
  • Sunset Wilds – Mario Kart: Super Circuit
  • Vancouver Velocity – Mario Kart Tour

Wave 5 is the penultimate wave of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC. It’s available for $24.99 from the eShop, or as part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. Wave 6 is expected to arrive before the end of 2023.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available now for Nintendo Switch. Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass will be released on July 12, 2023.
