Genshin Impact PS4 Visual Performance Will Drop in 5.0

HoYoVerse announced that the 5.0 update for Genshin Impact will make it look prettier on some platforms, however that will also mean a visual performance hit for ones like the PS4. It didn’t offer examples or details, but said all PS4 models will be affected.

HoYoVerse specifically said Genshin Impact will look different on the PS4 and select Android and iOS devices after the update. While the overall improvements being made for 5.0 mean all PS4 versions are affected, only people with Android and iOS phones and tablets with certain processors will notice any negative changes. So A12 iOS devices like some iPads, iPad Airs, and iPad Minis, the iPhone XR, and the iPhone XS models will all be included. If someone has an Android device and it uses a Dimensity 1200 (8050), a Kirin 9000SL, a Samsung Exynos 1080, or a Snapdragon 865, the game won’t look as good there.

The announcement also noted specific examples of how it could look different. Here is what HoYoVerse said to expect:

When playing the game on the devices mentioned above, the resolution of some image details and smaller objects will decrease, the effect range of some special effects will decrease, etc.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. There’s no release date for the 5.0 Genshin Impact update just yet. The 4.6 update appeared on April 24, 2024, and HoYoVerse already started teasing the 4.7 characters like Sigewinne the Melusine
